A Jazz Bass in the Fender spirit: the heritage of a classic, Standard version

Released in 1960 to complement the Precision Bass, the Jazz Bass quickly established itself as a reference thanks to its ergonomics, slimmer neck, and expanded tonal palette through two pickups. This Fender Standard Jazz Bass reprises the fundamentals that built the Fender legend, in a configuration designed to support bassists from their first steps, while retaining the "J Bass" DNA: comfort, precision, and brightness.

Who is this Fender Standard Jazz Bass for?

Ideal for beginners and progressing bassists, it also works very well as a reliable main instrument for rehearsing, home recording, or performing on stage. Its character, both defined and flexible, makes it comfortable in rock, pop, funk, jazz, and contemporary music, with excellent responsiveness to fingerstyle, pick, or slap nuances.

The sound

With its two Fender Standard single-coil pickups featuring high output (ceramic magnets), this Jazz Bass delivers a clear attack, precise low end, and beautiful clarity in the upper midrange. The neck pickup provides body and roundness, while the bridge pickup adds definition and bite to cut through the mix. The classic wiring Volume (neck) + Volume (bridge) + Tone allows fine blending of the two pickups, from a vintage mellow sound to a brighter, more articulate signature. The poplar body and maple neck duo promotes a balanced response, with good dynamics and an immediate playing feel.

Recommended compatible accessories

To stay true to the original spirit, choose a 4-string bass string set in nickel with a .045-.105 gauge (long scale format, 34" scale length). A strap (with standard ends) and a 6.35 mm jack cable ideally complete the gear for rehearsing and playing in a band.
