A Jazz Bass born in 1960: Fender DNA serving versatility

Launched by Fender in 1960 as a complement to the Precision Bass, the Jazz Bass established itself as a reference thanks to its dual pickup offering more tonal variety and brightness, its more ergonomic asymmetrical body, and its thin neck profile designed for speed. The Fender Standard Jazz Bass carries this historic spirit in a version designed to accompany beginner bassists at the start of their musical journey, with the "Fender" feel and sound that marked rock & roll.

For whom, and for which styles?

This electric bass is primarily aimed at beginners (and intermediates who want a simple, effective, and inspiring Jazz Bass). Its ergonomics, long scale length, and intuitive controls (two volumes and one tone) make it ideal for working on right-hand precision, dynamics, and timing. In terms of styles, it is particularly comfortable in rock, pop, funk, blues, and of course jazz, thanks to the combination of warm sounds (neck pickup) and more biting tones (bridge pickup).

The sound

The Fender Standard Jazz Bass relies on classic and effective craftsmanship: a poplar body with a glossy finish, and a maple neck/fingerboard that promote a clear attack, good note definition, and a bright high register. The Standard Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups (ceramic magnets) deliver a generous output level, with precise response and a characteristic Jazz Bass tone. The electronics with Volume (neck) / Volume (bridge) / Tone controls allow switching from a round and deep sound to a more snappy and articulate tone, or blending both pickups for a versatile balance, perfect for cutting through a mix.

Recommended compatible accessories

To maintain the original string gauge and factory feel, opt for a nickel bass string set .045-.105 in 4-string format. A strap and a tuner ideally complete the gear for rehearsals and stage.
