The JA-90 Telecaster Thinline was born from the collaboration between Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World) and Fender, aiming to create an instrument tailored to his playing style: efficient, expressive, and reliable. Inspired by his experience and the idea of optimizing every detail, this semi-hollow Telecaster combines a sleek and refined aesthetic with a configuration clearly oriented towards alternative rock: P90 pickups, generous electronics, and Adjusto-Matic style hardware with a fixed tailpiece.

This electric guitar is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a Telecaster different from classic single-coil setups. It excels in rock, indie, alt-rock, melodic punk, but is also very comfortable in blues and pop whenever attack, character, and dynamic right-hand playing are sought.

The Sound

The semi-hollow ash body provides natural resonance, a broad attack, and an open feel, ideal for breathing chords and snapping riffs. The set maple neck promotes direct response and good sustain continuity, while the 24.75" / 629 mm scale length softens the touch for bends and a more singing playing style. The Seymour Duncan SP90 (P90) pickups deliver a mid-rich register, thicker than a traditional single coil, while maintaining definition. With one volume and one tone per pickup, you can finely adjust clarity, saturation, and balance between neck and bridge pickups, from gritty crunch to dense leads.

To stay as close as possible to the original specifications, this guitar is designed for Fender USA 250L Nickel Plated Steel strings (.009-.042) (PN 0730250403).
