An "Artist Series" Reed Born from Meticulous Adjustment Work
The RPL model is the first in the Fiberreed Artist series. It was developed with Rodrigo Pires de Lima, using a very "workshop" approach: many hours of adjustments and refining the cut led to a reed oriented towards classical music, designed for precision, stability, and clarity of sound.
For Which Musician and Repertoires?
This reed is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced saxophonists (and demanding musicians seeking consistency), especially in classical music, chamber music, wind orchestra, or any context where intonation and clarity of attack are paramount. It is also suitable for intensive practice situations thanks to its stability against humidity.
Sound and Design
The Fiberreed RPL stands out with a pronounced heart that provides comfortable resistance, promotes a pure tone, and precise articulation. The traditional curved cut supports consistent sound production and good homogeneity, with reliable response across all registers of the tenor saxophone. Its composite material, alternating carbon fibers and hollow fibers, aims to offer consistent behavior without the typical variations linked to moisture absorption found in natural reeds.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
If you already use a tenor saxophone mouthpiece and a ligature suited for standard reeds, the RPL generally fits into your usual setup. Additionally, a reed guard (reed case) is recommended to protect the tip and preserve response consistency between practice sessions.
