A pedal designed for the AFX ecosystem and modern acoustic setups

The Fishman AFX Pocket Blender was designed as an "all-in-one" solution to meet the practical needs of acoustic guitarists on stage: managing multiple sources, securing the output to the front of house, and organizing a smarter pedalboard without multiplying boxes. Its approach fits the spirit of current rigs, where both signal quality and quick ergonomics (one stomp, one stage change) are sought, notably thanks to "dual path" routing and the use of TRS cables to separate or combine audio paths.

For whom, for which styles, and in what contexts?

This pedal is primarily aimed at acoustic-electric musicians who play live (concerts, coffeehouse gigs, worship, theater, events) and need to send a reliable signal to the PA while maintaining control on stage. It is also very suitable for studio use to capture a clean direct signal via the D.I., or to experiment with blends between two sources (piezo pickup + microphone, magnetic pickup + microphone, etc.).

Regarding styles, it is comfortable anywhere acoustic clarity and dynamics are required: folk, pop, acoustic rock, blues, fingerstyle, as well as all situations where you want to switch from a "balanced rhythmic" sound to a "featured/solo" sound without adjusting settings between songs.

Mixer, ABY, boost, D.I.: a simple yet powerful control logic

The Pocket Blender combines several essential functions. First, it is a mixer : the TRS input allows you to receive two sources (tip/ring) and blend their levels to find the right balance between attack, air, and presence. Next, the ABY section allows you to split a signal, feed one or two stage amplifiers, or route your sound to multiple destinations depending on your setup.

The balanced D.I. output with ground lift is a major asset for the stage: you can send a stable signal to the PA system and quickly fix ground loop issues. Add to this a boost (ideal for standing out during a solo or fingerpicking passage), and an A/B logic that lets you define two behaviors and switch via footswitch: you get a pedal designed for the musician who needs to be operational in seconds, hassle-free.

Finally, the presence of a 4-band EQ reinforces its role as the "brain" of the acoustic rig: handy for compensating for a too-bright room, taming an overwhelming low end, or restoring definition to the attack, without relying solely on the console's equalization.

Sound

The Fishman AFX Pocket Blender favors a clean and musical reproduction: the goal is not to color like saturation but to preserve the instrument's dynamics while offering essential signal management tools. The blend between two sources allows you to go from a very direct sound (attack, precision, feedback control) to a more "lively" and organic sound (air, nuances, depth), adjusting the blend according to your playing and stage volume.

The boost is particularly useful when you want to gain presence without breaking the overall mix balance, and the balanced D.I. output targets a solid signal for long cable runs to the front of house. Note: this tool appears in performance- and signal-control-oriented rigs, including those of guitarists known for their demanding routing and live management, such as Eric Johnson.
