Essential Information About the Flight Iris BK Baritone Guitar

  • 19-fret baritone format: a lower and broader range, ideal for enriching arrangements.

  • Solid spruce top (painted): more precision, dynamics, and better response to playing nuances.

  • Laminate mahogany back and sides: a warm and stable sound, perfect for an instrument ready for everyday use.

  • Modern Satin Black finish + premium hardware (truss rod, binding, offset position markers) with deluxe 15 mm padded gig bag included.

An Iris Baritone in the Princess Series: Flight's DNA in a Lower Register

The baritone format continues to attract more and more musicians, and Flight enriches its Princess Series with the Iris BK Baritone. In the spirit of the concert and tenor versions of the range, it features a contemporary visual identity, a painted solid spruce top, and lutherie designed to offer comfort, projection, and reliability. The result: an instrument with a bold satin black look that maintains Flight's typical "accessible premium" character while delivering the sonic depth unique to baritones.

Who is the Flight Iris BK Baritone For?

This Iris is primarily aimed at intermediate and advanced musicians looking for a modern baritone, but it is also very suitable for beginners who want to start directly with a lower and more "guitar-like" feel. Thanks to its longer scale length, it offers a different touch (more space, better string tension) and is particularly suited to styles seeking roundness and harmonic breadth: vocal accompaniment, pop, indie, folk, gentle fingerstyle, or duo arrangements with a soprano/concert ukulele.

Details designed for everyday play make a difference: clearly readable offset position markers, rear-facing tuners, and comfortable access across all 19 frets. The integrated pickguard is also a real plus if you like to pick harder with a plectrum or strum energetically.

Sound: Solid Spruce and Mahogany, a Precise and Warm Baritone

The solid spruce top forms the sonic heart of the instrument: it promotes a clear attack, good note definition, and richer dynamics when varying intensity (light playing, accented chords, arpeggios). The fact that it is painted does not diminish the benefits of solid wood: spruce remains an excellent choice for gaining articulation and projection, especially on a baritone format where both depth and clarity are sought.

The laminate mahogany back and sides provide a warm coloration, with present mids and a balanced output. The laminate also has the advantage of being more stable against temperature and humidity changes, making it a reliable companion for rehearsals, lessons, and travel. Combined with the baritone scale length, this configuration delivers an instrument with generous low end and pleasant sustain for open chords and accompaniment lines.

Finally, the fluorocarbon strings contribute to the overall balance: precise response, stable intonation, and comfortable playing feel. Paired with the bone nut and saddle, they help ensure good vibration transmission and a sharper attack.
