A tenor ukulele with a "Black" look designed for frequent and long playing sessions

With its satin black finish and light details (white acrylic rosette, ivory and white acrylic purflings), the Flight Iris BK Tenor focuses on a sober and modern style, easy to integrate both on stage and at home. Its tenor format, appreciated for its comfort, offers more space between the frets and a playing feel closer to a guitar than a soprano or concert size, while retaining the ukulele's distinctive sound character.

For whom and for which styles?

The Flight Iris BK Tenor is well suited for beginners seeking a pleasant, stable, and immediately motivating instrument, as well as for intermediate players looking for a versatile tenor. Thanks to its 19 frets and longer scale length, it adapts equally well to pop/folk strumming rhythms, arpeggios, enriched chord playing, and melodies high up the neck. It's an excellent choice for vocal accompaniment, fingerstyle arrangements, and lead parts typical of "modern ukulele" playing.

Sound and lutherie: precision, warmth, and good projection

The solid spruce top is the key element of the sound response: spruce generally provides a clear attack, good note-to-note definition, and dynamics that faithfully follow the right hand. This results in a lively instrument that maintains clarity in strumming and remains articulate in arpeggios.

The laminate mahogany back and sides complement the sound with a more rounded and warm tone, while promoting stability against daily use variations. Combined with the tenor format, this creates a pleasant balance: present highs without harshness, a musical midrange to carry chords, and a fuller bass than smaller formats.

The choice of bone nut and saddle contributes to better vibration transmission, resulting in a cleaner sustain and crisper articulation. The rosewood fingerboard and bridge provide comfortable playability and a consistent response, while the okoumé neck offers a good compromise between lightness and stability. Finally, the fluorocarbon strings enhance precision, intonation, and controlled brightness-a real plus for chord definition and melodic lines.

Recommended compatible accessories

The included padded gig bag already covers the essentials for transport. To complete a simple and effective setup, a clip-on tuner is a universally suitable accessory for a tenor ukulele, useful for quick and discreet tuning at home or during rehearsals.
