RedNet: the AES3 building block that connects your audio standards to the Dante network
Within the Focusrite RedNet range, the RedNet AES3 plays a key role: that of a professional bridge between AES3 digital audio and the Dante infrastructure. Where a studio, broadcast control room, or fixed installation must accommodate multiple generations of equipment, this type of interface becomes a true "translator": you keep your AES3 devices while benefiting from the flexibility of audio routing over IP.
True to Focusrite's philosophy " Sound is everything ", the design relies on high-end multilayer printed circuit boards, a highly stable clock, and a performance-oriented approach to meet the demands of distributed audio networks: very low latency, robust synchronization, and clean integration in multi-room or multi-control room environments.
For whom and for what uses?
The Focusrite RedNet AES3 is intended for users who want to secure and expand their digital audio system without giving up existing professional standards. It naturally integrates into multi-booth recording studios, post-production, OB trucks, broadcast, places of worship, theaters, or any site requiring distributed audio over long distances.
Its benefits are immediate whenever you need to route AES3 to multiple destinations, share resources between several rooms, or deploy a scalable infrastructure. With Dante, extending the number of inputs and outputs is done without rethinking all the cabling: you add nodes, route, synchronize, and the network becomes the heart of the studio or venue.

Questions frequently asked
How many AES3 channels are available on the Focusrite Rednet D16R MK2?
The two DB25 connectors compliant with AES59 provide 16 AES3 input channels and 16 output channels, with 8 channels per connector.
Does the RedNet D16R MK2 operate with a Dante network?
Routing of AES3 streams is performed over the Dante network via the RedNet and Dante control software. The maximum specified resolution reaches 24-bit / 192 kHz.
What clock and digital connections are available?
Synchronization relies on WordClock inputs and outputs via BNC connectors. A rear XLR input can receive a DARS or AES3 signal, while one coaxial S/P-DIF input and one output are also available.
Does the interface have network redundancy?
A redundant design is provided for both Ethernet and power. Automatic switching occurs in case of failure. Network ports use lockable EtherCON connectors.
Can audio levels be adjusted within Dante?
The operation includes level control on input and output channels. This management allows adaptation of levels between AES3 equipment and streams routed over Dante.
