A Fulltone classic from the 90s, modernized in the V2 version

The Full-Drive 2 is one of the overdrives that has become a reference for guitarists seeking an organic tone, close to a pushed tube amp, with enough controls to adapt to different pickups and amps. This V2 version retains the DNA of the '90s Full-Drive circuit and centers around the highly sought-after JRC4558, while adding impressive sonic flexibility thanks to its two clipping selectors. The result: a pedal that can cover the role of a boost, mid-gain overdrive, or a more aggressive drive, without losing touch sensitivity.

Two channels to switch from rhythm to lead without changing pedals

The FULLDRIVE 2 V2 is aimed at both intermediate guitarists and demanding musicians who want a primary overdrive for their pedalboard. In blues, rock, pop, classic rock, and even more modern contexts where gain stacking is common, its dual stage allows maintaining a defined rhythmic base while triggering extra saturation and volume for solos. In the studio, you'll appreciate the variety of textures; live, the "two pedals in one" aspect clearly simplifies level management.

Controls, switching, and modes: a true gain toolbox

At the heart of the ergonomics: 2 footswitches. The left footswitch handles overall activation in True Bypass, with a Fulltone "Anti-Pop" circuit designed to reduce switching noise. The right footswitch selects the Overdrive 1 or Overdrive 2 channel, each with dedicated controls to optimize your volumes and gain levels.

The "Drive 2" channel acts like a "More" mode: when engaged, it adds additional distortion on top of what you've set on Drive 1, while switching the level to a higher volume defined by a mini-potentiometer. You can use it either as a volume boost (Drive 2 at 0, Drive 2 volume to taste) or as a gain + volume boost for leads (Drive 2 above 0, Drive 2 volume adjusted to cut through the mix).

Two 3-position selectors multiply the textures. The left switch offers Comp-Cut (removal of clipping diodes for a more open drive that can push the op-amp into saturation), Flat Mids (feedback to the diodes to reduce the "mid hump" effect and keep a straighter tone), and Vintage (slightly asymmetric clipping in the style of the '90s Full-Drive). The right switch offers Wide (MOSFET + Schottky diode combination, more clarity, less compression, "Dumble-type" vibe), Standard (slightly asymmetric '90s signature), and Half-Clipped (partial clipping for a very "touch sensitive" feel, with remarkable definition).

The sound

The FULLDRIVE 2 V2 stands out with a responsive and expressive overdrive, capable of moving from a smooth, compressed tone to a sharper, more airy attack depending on the clipping modes. In "Vintage/Standard," it delivers warmth and roundness ideal for thickening a clean tone or pushing an already crunchy channel. In "Wide" and "Half-Clipped," the pedal gains in clarity: chords remain articulated, the pick attack is more pronounced, and the dynamics finely follow the right hand. Powering up to 18V DC helps achieve more headroom and a less compressed feel, particularly appreciated with humbuckers or amps already rich in low mids.
