PLUS Pedal II: The Evolution of a Cult Sustain
The PLUS Pedal established itself as a creative alternative to "freeze"-type effects: here, the goal is not to freeze a moment, but to extend the playing with an instrumental feel, close to a piano sustain pedal. The PLUS Pedal II carries this philosophy further with a new processing engine designed to preserve the source's personality (attack, harmonics, breathing) while transforming it into musical material usable in a real song, not just a one-off effect. At the heart of this version II, the Spectral Sampling engine goes beyond simple note holding: it deeply analyzes the signal to capture its character, then credibly extends it while respecting the nuances of your playing. The result: sustain layers that are more lively, more realistic, and above all easier to integrate into a mix, whether you are in the studio, home studio, or on stage.
Expressive Sustain for Guitarists, Singers, and Sound Designers
The PLUS Pedal II is aimed as much at guitarists as at musicians who want to make any source "sing": vocals, amplified acoustic instruments, winds, strings, light percussion, field recordings, or even signals from another pedal. In ambient, post-rock, film music, worship, experimental, shoegaze, or hybrid electronic styles, it becomes a tool for creating pads, harmonized drones, sustained chords under a solo, or ultra-smooth transitions between sections. Its major strength is playing comfort: no complex technique is needed to "catch" notes cleanly. Auto Layer Catch detects new events, cleans what needs to be cleaned, manages continuity, and stacks layers with musical logic. You quickly find yourself playing more freely, as if the pedalboard responds to touch rather than a series of manipulations.
Layer Control, Progressive Pedal, and Mic Input: A Pedal Designed as an Instrument
The PLUS Pedal II offers a layer (Layers) setting that determines how many sustain stacks remain active. With one layer, you get maximum clarity, ideal for holding a note or chord without muddying the spectrum. From 2 to 10 layers, you build rich harmonic structures, chord beds, and complex textures. In Infinite mode, the oldest layers combine to create a continuous soundscape that evolves without collapsing. The progressive optical control changes the feel underfoot: the brass pedal is no longer experienced as a simple switch. The position is measured throughout the travel, allowing you to dose volume and release curves of the sustain layers. In practice, you can go from a very soft and natural sustain (piano-like) to more expressive swells, almost like a swell effect, with very musical precision.
Another major asset: the combo XLR / 6.35mm Jack input. With XLR, you plug in a microphone directly and adjust gain via the built-in preamp, perfect for capturing a voice, flute, brass, or an acoustic mic without adding an external chain. With the 6.35mm Jack, the preamp is bypassed and the input behaves like a more traditional instrument input. A Kill Dry switch allows using the PLUS Pedal II solely to layer sustain while leaving your dry sound naturally present in the room.
Sound Character
The PLUS Pedal II stands out with a sustain that respects the instrument's signature: the timbre remains credible, harmonics keep their definition, and the texture does not sound "frozen." Depending on how you dose layers and release, you can stay very transparent (a simple chord extension) or shift toward immersive, moving, almost orchestral pads. Dynamic response is a real strong point: the effect reacts to attack, chord changes, and gives the sensation of sculpting the sound with your foot rather than triggering a sample. In a pedalboard context, it also excels at creating a stable harmonic foundation under more pronounced effects (delay, reverb, modulation, saturation): you lay down the material, then play on top. In the studio, it becomes a generator of beds and transitions, very effective for thickening a chorus, linking two parts, or creating a crescendo without endlessly stacking tracks.

Questions frequently asked
Can the Gamechanger Audio Plus II accept an XLR microphone?
Thanks to its combo XLR/6.35 mm jack input, this pedal accepts an XLR microphone with gain control via a built-in preamp. The 6.35 mm jack input bypasses this preamp for instrument-type operation.
How many sustain layers can be stacked?
The Layers setting allows from 1 to 10 active sustain layers to be maintained. The Infinite mode combines the oldest layers to preserve a continuous texture. A circular LED ring displays the current number of layers.
What power supply is required for the PLUS Pedal II?
A 9 V DC power supply with center negative, capable of providing at least 500 mA, is required.
How does the progressive brass pedal work?
The optical control measures the position of the brass pedal throughout its range. Volume and release curve of the sustain layers can thus be foot-controlled.
Can the dry signal be removed?
The Kill Dry switch allows only the sustain layers to be kept. The Auto Layer Catch function detects new notes and filters out unwanted noise during stacking.
