From the original 1960 Hummingbird to this "Standard Rosewood" version

Launched in 1960, the Hummingbird became a Gibson icon for its iconic look and square-shoulder dreadnought temperament, designed to accompany vocals as well as to carry solo playing. This Standard Rosewood version retains the emblematic aesthetics (Hummingbird pickguard, refined finishes) while offering the addition of rosewood on the back and sides to broaden the harmonic palette and enhance the sense of depth. The "Rosewood Burst" finish highlights its premium character, blending tradition and elegance.

An electro-acoustic designed for stage and studio

Thanks to its short scale length, the guitar offers a smooth and comfortable feel, with easier chords and barre chords, as well as a pleasant bending sensation. It is aimed at the motivated beginner looking to invest in a durable acoustic, as well as the intermediate or advanced guitarist seeking an expressive dreadnought. Folk, pop, country, acoustic rock, or voice-guitar accompaniment: its balance and projection make it equally convincing in strumming and fingerpicking.

Sound

The Sitka spruce top provides a quick response and clear definition in attacks, with dynamics that follow playing nuances. The rosewood back and sides thicken the lows, soften the mids, and enrich the harmonic spectrum, giving a sense of width and sustain. The square-shoulder dreadnought shape favors generous projection and a solid foundation, particularly flattering for rhythmic accompaniment. The Reverse Belly rosewood bridge and TUSQ nut contribute to efficient vibration transfer and stable intonation. Once plugged in, the L.R. Baggs VTC electronics aim for a natural and responsive sound, with discreet volume and tone controls integrated into the soundhole.
