A Gibson Legend at the Top of the Jumbo Acoustic Range

Since its first appearance in 1937, the SJ-200 has established itself as an essential reference at Gibson, recognizable by its Jumbo body shape and unique visual identity. The SJ-200 Standard continues this legacy with a selection of AAA woods, meticulous finishing, and a design intended for both studio and stage, while maintaining the imposing and prestigious character that made the model famous.

For Which Guitarist and Styles?

The Gibson SJ-200 Standard is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking an acoustic guitar with strong presence, ideal for carrying vocals or structuring arrangements. Its Jumbo format is particularly suited to styles where breadth and foundation are desired: country, folk, pop, singer-songwriter accompaniment, and rhythmic pick playing, while remaining expressive in fingerpicking when attack is controlled.

Sound

The combination of a AAA Sitka spruce top and AAA flamed maple back and sides contributes to a response that is both broad and precise. The spruce provides a clear attack, good dynamics, and ample volume reserve, while the maple enhances definition and clarity, helping chords remain distinct even when played loudly. The large SJ-200 body enhances projection and breadth, with a pronounced presence ideal for accompaniment. When plugged in, the LR Baggs Anthem allows blending the realism of the internal microphone with the precision of the piezo under the saddle, featuring a mix control and phase inversion switch to manage feedback and balance depending on the stage environment.
