An Icon of Gibson Heritage, Faithfully Recreated
Born in the heart of the 1950s, the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop marks the era of the first humbuckers and a sound that became a reference. This Custom Shop reissue follows the historic recipes-solid woods, animal glue, original shapes and contours-to offer the authenticity of a vintage specimen without compromising modern playability.
Who Is It For and What Styles?
Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists, this Les Paul excels in blues, rock, classic rock, jazz, and pop. Musicians seeking a thick, singing tone with precise attack and great responsiveness to dynamic playing will find an inspiring instrument both in the studio and on stage.
Sound
The pair of non-paraffin coated Custombucker Alnico III pickups delivers a palette ranging from silky, enveloping lows at the neck to the singing bite of the bridge. The CTS 500k pots allow the highs to breathe, while the Paper-in-Oil capacitors provide natural tonal progression. The combination of solid mahogany + maple top enhances midrange, projection, and sustain. The ABR-1 bridge and aluminum Stop Bar efficiently transmit vibrations for a dense, precise, and highly musical sound.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
Opt for nickel string sets 10-46 suited to the short 24.75" / 628 mm scale length, a quality leather strap (compatible with standard strap buttons), and a reliable straight/angled jack cable. For nitro finish maintenance, prefer a dry, non-abrasive microfiber cloth.
