The Essentials to Know About the Gibson ES-335 Figured Guitar

  • A lightweight semi-hollow ES-335 thanks to its maple center block and meticulous assembly, ideal for playing long sessions without fatigue.

  • Premium look: AAA figured maple and glossy nitrocellulose lacquer that highlights the wood grain.

  • Sound versatility by Gibson, featuring two calibrated T-Type humbuckers (rhythm/neck and lead/bridge) to switch from spacious cleans to powerful crunch.

  • Premium electronics: hand-wired and Orange Drop capacitors for precise and musical tone response.

A "Figured" ES-335 Designed for Tradition... and Detail

The Gibson ES-335 Figured carries the DNA of the 335: a semi-hollow body in the 335 format, designed to offer the best of both worlds between the resonance of a semi-hollow and the stability of a solid body with a center block. In this version, the focus is on material selection and finish, with a AAA 3-ply figured maple top and back, refined hardware, and craftsmanship reinforced by Adirondack quarter-sawn spruce bracing.

For Which Guitarists and Styles?

This guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert musicians seeking an expressive semi-hollow, comfortable at home, in the studio, or on stage. Its balanced character is particularly suited for blues, classic rock, jazz, soul, and pop. With its two humbuckers and precise wiring, it handles nuances well both with pick and fingerstyle, and responds effectively to volume and tone variations.

The Sound

The 3-ply maple/poplar/maple construction (top and back) provides a clear attack, great definition, and detailed high-end, while the maple center block helps control feedback and enhances note sustain, especially appreciated with gain. The Adirondack spruce bracing contributes to the body's responsiveness and a livelier projection than a solid body. On the amplification side, the calibrated T-Type pickups deliver a balanced humbucker tone: warmth and depth in the neck position, bite and presence at the bridge, with spacious cleans and overdrives rich in harmonics. The 2 volume / 2 tone hand-wired circuit, combined with Orange Drop capacitors, makes tone adjustments smooth and usable, allowing you to sculpt the sound without cutting it off abruptly.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The guitar comes with a hard case and a Gibson accessory kit. To stay as close as possible to the original feel, you can prepare a set of strings with a .010-.046 gauge, identical to the factory setup.
