Essential Information About the Ibanez PIA3761 Steve Vai Signature Guitar

• High-end signature designed for the stage: modern ergonomics (Petal Grip) and spectacular finishes, with no compromise on playability.

• HSH DiMarzio UtoPIA configuration: smoother highs, more open mids, and pronounced lows for a singing lead and solid rhythms.

• Edge Vibrato + Lion's Claw cavity: wide tremolo range, precise feel, and optimized stability with locking nut.

• "Prestige" comfort: 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, carefully finished fret edges, and Luminlay markers to stay effective even on dark stages.

An artistic evolution in the lineage of Steve Vai signature models

The PIA3761 fits within Steve Vai's vision: a performance guitar with a bold look, where every detail contributes as much to aesthetics as to ergonomics. The PIA Blossom inlay provides an immediately recognizable identity, while the Petal Grip handle, specifically designed for this model, enhances grip and overall balance of the instrument.

For which guitarist and styles?

This electric guitar is aimed at intermediate to expert guitarists seeking fast playability (24 frets, thin neck) and great vibrato expressiveness. It excels in rock, metal, fusion, and shred, but remains very relevant for more nuanced tones thanks to the 5-position selector and high-pass filter on the volume control, ideal for clarifying crunch or lightening a saturated sound.

Sound

The alder body provides a natural balance, with present mids and good definition, perfect for articulate high-gain tones. The DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups in HSH configuration offer a wide spectrum: the humbuckers (neck and bridge) deliver power, sustain, and density, while the single coil in the middle adds precision and "snap" for clearer intermediate positions. The 5-position selector also allows "split" style combinations (as described in the positions) to switch from thick leads to airier textures. The Edge vibrato, combined with the locking nut, favors dives, wide vibratos, and accurate returns, with a very direct response.
