A 70s Heritage Revived in the Les Paul Lineup
Introduced in 1969, the Les Paul Deluxe brought mini humbuckers to Gibson. This reissue captures the aesthetics and formula of the early 70s models: no weight relief, bound maple top, rounded C-profile neck, and vintage details. It stands as the "classic vibe" option in the Les Paul family, faithful to the feel and sound of the era.
Who Is It For and What Styles?
Ideal for intermediate to expert guitarists seeking a more articulate Les Paul. Excellent for classic rock, blues, pop, indie, and 70s hard rock. The quick response of the mini humbuckers facilitates sharp rhythms as well as singing leads, while retaining the typical Les Paul sustain.
The Sound
The mini humbuckers deliver precise mids, bright highs, and controlled lows, clearer than a full-size humbucker and more powerful than a P-90, without background noise. The mahogany/maple combination and the glued neck ensure generous sustain and a firm attack. The 2 volume / 2 tone hand-wired circuit with Orange Drop capacitors offers smooth taper and fine nuances on the 3-way selector, allowing you to move from vintage crunch to crisp clean tones.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
- Nickel string set 10-46 (original setup), ideal for maintaining tension/attack balance. - Standard guitar strap for electric guitar (original 2-point strap buttons). - Capo for electric guitar with 12" radius fingerboard. The instrument comes with a hard case as standard (ref. 940-18163).
