A Les Paul born for simplicity... with more possibilities
The Les Paul Special appeared in 1955 as a natural evolution of the Les Paul Junior: the same "straight to the point" philosophy, but with increased versatility. This Left-Handed reissue follows this tradition: a deliberately stripped-down guitar, focused on the essentials, where every detail serves the playing and the sound. It carries the DNA of vintage Gibson models, with an immediately recognizable sonic personality and straightforward playability.
For which guitarists and styles?
This Les Paul Special is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want an expressive, responsive, and lively instrument, but it remains perfectly accessible if you are looking for a first "real" guitar with character. It shines in blues (for dynamic licks and feel), classic rock (big riffs and biting leads), punk (sharp attack, efficiency), and more broadly in any genre where present mids and a guitar that responds instantly to the right hand are desired.
A P-90 sound: bite, mids, and a true palette
The pair of P-90 pickups gives this Les Paul Special that famous balance between clarity and grit. In the bridge position, you get a sharp and edgy tone, perfect for leads that "speak" and rhythmic parts that snap. In the neck position, the sound becomes rounder and thicker, ideal for rich chords, singing blues, or full-bodied rhythm parts. Thanks to the two volumes and two tones, you can finely sculpt the response (from muscular clean to crunchy with grain), and the 3-position toggle switch allows instant switching between tones.
The craftsmanship directly contributes to the character: the mahogany body provides density, warmth, and that typical "punch" in the low mids. The wraparound bridge enhances the string-to-body connection feel, with a very direct attack, good note sustain, and natural sustain that highlights the P-90s, especially when playing at guitar volume.
