A Modernized Les Paul Studio, Following the Legacy of a Classic Born in the 1980s

An evolution of the original Les Paul Studio introduced in the early 1980s, this GIBSON USA Modern Les Paul Studio Figured Top carries forward the founding idea of the model: offering a Les Paul focused on efficiency, tone, and playability. In this "Modern" version, Gibson pushes the concept further with contemporary ergonomics (lightweight Ultra-Modern Weight Relief) and electronics geared towards versatility (coil-tap via push/pull), while retaining the signature of the range: mahogany body, set neck, short scale, and the timeless Les Paul aesthetic, here highlighted by a AA figured maple top.

Who Is This Les Paul Studio Figured Top For?

This guitar is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a genuine Les Paul USA experience that is reliable and inspiring, without necessarily aiming for the Standard model. The SlimTaper neck profile offers a faster, more modern feel, particularly appreciated for precise rhythm playing, articulated lead lines, and clean chord transitions. Thanks to the Burstbucker Pro pickups and coil-tap feature, it covers a wide range of styles: rock, blues, hard rock, pop, and even more modern genres requiring clear gain definition. It is also an excellent "main guitar" option for the studio: a responsive instrument with rich dynamics, capable of sitting easily in a mix.

The Sound

The tonal recipe relies on a classic and formidable duo: mahogany for midrange density, warmth, and generous sustain, and maple to add presence, attack, and a clearer high end. The Les Paul construction (set neck and solid body, here lightweight) promotes a "full" response under the fingers, with notes that hold and develop. The Ultra-Modern Weight Relief lightening makes the instrument more comfortable while preserving the Les Paul character: solid low mids and strong projection in overdrive.
Regarding pickups, the Gibson Burstbucker Pro deliver a rich, punchy, and detailed humbucker tone, ideal for expressive crunch and singing leads. The electronics are designed to multiply tonal colors: one volume per pickup (with push/pull pots to activate coil-tap), one tone per pickup, and a 3-position selector switch to navigate between bridge, neck, or both pickups. In humbucker mode, you get a thick and powerful sound; in coil-tap mode, the guitar opens up with sharper attacks and airier rhythms, very useful for varying tones without changing instruments.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original playing balance and response, an electric string set 10-46 matches the recommended gauge. A set of picks (various thicknesses) will help explore the dynamics of the Burstbucker Pro pickups, and a soft cloth is suitable for regular care of the glossy finish. The guitar comes with a Gibson Soft Shell Case for daily transport and protection.
