An archtop inspired by the classics, designed for today's playing
The Godin 5th Avenue series revives the spirit of great vintage archtops while maintaining a modern and accessible design. With its arched body, adjustable bridge, floating pickguard, and traditional details (cream binding, bound and glossy headstock), this 5th Avenue fully embraces its vintage DNA, enhanced by a semi-gloss Cognac Burst finish with a "Custom Polished Finish" charm.
Who is it for, and what styles?
This Godin targets intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a lively archtop, but it remains quite accessible for a motivated beginner (considering the 12-52 gauge strings). Its playing field is broad: jazz, delta blues, slide, alt-country, and rock. It stands out both acoustically (attack, dynamics) and amplified, where the P90 reveals its full personality.
Sound
The Canadian cherry body, combined with an arched top and back, delivers a very responsive response and a full low-midrange, with a real sense of volume under the fingers. Plugged in, the Godin Kingpin P90 single-coil neck pickup provides a warm yet defined tone: clear highs, rich mids, and the slight bite typical of a P90 that easily cuts through a mix. The volume and tone controls allow you to shift from a smooth jazz sound to a more "roots" texture for blues and rock, maintaining excellent expressiveness both with a pick and fingerstyle.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To stay as close as possible to the original balance, favor jazz-style strings in .012-.052 gauge (nickel wound), like the factory-installed set. This gauge supports the body's dynamics and promotes a full, stable sound, especially appreciated in standard tuning and jazz/blues playing.

I received it this morning, well packed and on time (as usual).
Nothing to complain about in terms of quality: it's Godin! It is very well finished, the violin is good.
The guitar was perfectly adjusted, I just turned the strings down a bit and was ready to play.
On the other hand, for those who have never had it in their hands the color is a bit deceptive, it is a bit darker and more matte.
The sound is very good, well balanced between bass and treble, although acoustically it does not have much projection.
I still think it requires a higher tie rod but I don't know what tie rod was mounted on it (I think it must be from 11/52).
The handle is pleasant, fairly flat. The mechanics keep up the agreement
For the moment I have not been able to connect it to an amp made for this type of guitar, so it was plugged into a Marshall Master Lead.
After a few quick amp adjustments and playing on the guitar tone I managed to switch from blues to gypsy jazz without too much difficulty. Even with a small distortion it sounds. Of course playing metal on it is out of the question but after all it is not made for that.
The Godin type P90 microphone may not be the best in the genre but it is absolutely fine, I am not even considering changing it.
If you are looking for an archtop guitar without having the means for a Gibson ES125 you can go there with your eyes closed (or almost) I still advise you to try it first because the tastes and colors... Great quality/price ratio.Automatically translated

Questions frequently asked
What sound does the P90 pickup of the Godin 5th Avenue Kingpin P90 Cognac Burst offer?
The Godin Kingpin P90 single coil in the neck position delivers rich mids, clear highs, and the characteristic bite of a P90. The volume and tone controls allow smoothing the response for jazz or maintaining more attack for blues and rock.
Is this archtop suitable for jazz and blues?
Its hollowbody Canadian cherry body with arched top and back is suited for jazz, delta blues, and slide playing. The factory-installed E12 Jazz .012-.052 gauge strings support a full response in standard tuning.
What are the neck dimensions?
The neck features a scale length of 631 mm, a radius of 406.4 mm, and a Graphtech nut width of 43.7 mm.
Can it be played without amplification?
The archtop construction with F-holes and the Canadian cherry body provide an attack and dynamics suitable for acoustic playing. Once amplified, the passive electronics rely on a Kingpin P90 neck pickup with volume and tone controls. The adjustable bridge allows for setup customization.
What strings should be used on this Godin?
It is recommended to use nickel wound jazz strings in .012-.052 gauge, matching the original E12 Jazz set: .012, .016, .024w, .032, .042, and .052.
