Streamliner: The Gretsch Spirit, Today's Performance
From the Streamliner collection, the G2655 embraces Gretsch's aesthetic codes and DNA (f-holes, bold look, vintage spirit) while incorporating decidedly modern choices: a laminated maple arched top with a reduced size, a center block, versatile electronics, and a V-Stoptail tailpiece for a more direct attack. The result: an accessible Gretsch, built to play loud, long, and with character.
For Whom and For What?
The G2655 is aimed at demanding beginners as well as intermediate players who want an easy-to-handle semi-hollow guitar, equally comfortable in rhythm and lead playing. It excels in rock, blues, indie, and pop: warm, full sounds on the neck pickup, sharp riffs on the bridge pickup, and a wide range of nuances thanks to separate volumes and coil split.
The Tone
Its semi-hollow construction with center block combines the best of both worlds: the airiness and resonance of a hollow body with better high-volume stability and tighter lows. The arched laminated maple (top/back/sides) delivers a clear attack, well-present mids, and excellent definition, ideal for saturated tones as well as articulate crunch. The Broad'Tron BT-3S pickups provide a convincing output level and a muscular tone; the push/pull opens up the sound for clearer, snappier textures, very useful for arpeggios or funk/indie styles.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Gretsch G2655 Streamliner Center Block Jr. suitable for rock and blues?
Its laminated maple body with center block provides a clear attack and tighter low end at high volume. The two Broad'Tron BT-3S pickups deliver a powerful tone suited for rock riffs and blues crunch. The neck pickup favors warm sounds, while the bridge pickup enhances attack precision.
What is the purpose of the coil split on this G2655?
The master volume push/pull knob allows splitting the coils of the Broad'Tron BT-3S pickups to achieve clearer, snappier textures.
Is the G2655 easy to play?
A nato neck with a Soft 'C' profile, combined with a 629 mm scale length and 42.86 mm nut width, offers accessible handling. The 22 medium jumbo frets on a laurel fingerboard and the 305 mm radius fit both rhythm playing and melodic lines.
What type of bridge and tailpiece does this Gretsch have?
The setup includes a pinned Adjusto-Matic bridge and a V-Stoptail tailpiece. This fixed configuration promotes direct attack and good string tension.
Is the body a full hollow body?
This guitar features a semi-hollow construction with center block, f-holes, and a 219.08 mm wide body. The center block reduces feedback compared to a fully hollow body.
