A New Step in the Heritage Audio Range: Access to the "73" Sound Without Compromise
After seven years developing one of the most respected outboard ranges on the market, Heritage Audio launches the Elite series with a simple idea: to make this level of quality more accessible. Where some hand-wired and soldered products require considerable assembly time, Elite adopts modern construction techniques and streamlined production to reduce manual labor and associated costs, while preserving what defines the brand's sonic signature.
The key point is that the essential elements of the "true" vintage sound remain, notably the Carnhill transformer, a true industry standard. Manufactured in the same Spanish factory as the rest of the range, the Elite series was announced for availability starting January 2018, including this model combining microphone preamp and EQ in a rack format.
A 73 Channel Strip to Record, Thicken, and Finalize Your Takes
The Heritage Audio HA-73 EQ (Elite) is aimed at sound engineers, producers, and home studio users seeking a colored microphone preamp and a musical EQ to immediately add personality to vocals, guitars, basses, drums, and synths. Its gain reserve and Class A topology make it a solid choice for both dynamic microphones and highly detailed sources.
Thanks to its separate XLR line input, it is not only for recording: you can also warm up and thicken already captured tracks by adding the thickness and presence typical of circuits inspired by the classic "73" units.

Questions frequently asked
Heritage Audio HA73EQX2 Elite: how many channels and what rack format?
The unit features two preamp channels with equalization, housed in a 2U rack format.
Is the HA73EQX2 Elite suitable for low-output microphones?
With up to 80 dB of gain, the three-stage Class A preamp covers sources requiring a significant gain reserve. The LOZ mode switches the microphone input impedance between 1200 and 300 ohms to alter the interaction with certain dynamic and ribbon microphones.
What functions does the HA73EQX2 Elite's equalizer offer?
The equalizer has three inductive bands, with selectable frequencies on the lows and mids. The high band provides a shelving at 12 kHz. A selectable and bypassable inductive high-pass filter helps control plosives and vibrations.
Can already recorded tracks be processed with this preamp?
The separate XLR line input allows signals already captured to be routed through the preamp and equalization circuits. This enables adding density to a track without using the mic input.
What instrument input is integrated into the HA73EQX2 Elite?
The ultra-high impedance JFET DI is designed for direct recording of bass, guitar, or electronic instruments.
