Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

In popular imagination, Hiwatt is closely linked to the British sound born in 1960s London: a clear grain, precise attack, and presence that cuts through the mix. The London 12 continues this lineage in a modern, "plug-and-play" version: a simple, compact practice combo designed to deliver an inspiring sound immediately, without complex settings.

Who This Amp Is For

The Hiwatt London 12 is tailored for the beginner guitarist who wants a real amp (not just a mini speaker), but also for the intermediate musician looking for a backup amp. It excels at home, for warm-ups before rehearsals, in low-volume jam sessions, or as a portable solution to toss in the trunk.
In terms of styles, it feels at ease whenever you want a crystal-clear clean foundation (pop, funk, indie) or a direct rock crunch (classic rock, blues rock, light punk). And with Bluetooth/Aux, it becomes an excellent companion for working on timing with tracks.

  1. Olivier C.

It may seem silly to you, but I bought this amp mainly because I found it pretty in red, and when you find a nice amp, you want to play it :-)
It easily found its place on my desk next to my computer screen, so when an idea for a riff comes to me, I just have to turn it on and Zou!! Onward the music!!
The clean and saturated sounds are very good and I quickly found a crunchy sound for my strat that is perfect for improvising and working on loops without having to retouch the settings every 5 minutes.
In short, at this price, it's an excellent deal: it sounds good, the amp has a lot of guts in its red tolex and it makes you want to play it!
The only flaw I find is that it lacks a reverb for the lead sounds. But hey, we all have a Hall of Fame or equivalent in our stock of pedals;] For me, a reverb pedal is enough to get a sound that I like. No need for tube screamer or distortion, the amp crunch is enough.
And a big THANK YOU to Woodbrass for the fast shipping .-)
