Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
The Super Leeds 300 fits within the spirit of "big iron" amps: an approach focused on power reserve, stability at high volume, and a firm response in the low end. Its positioning is clear: to offer an amp capable of handling heavy chords, low tunings, and complex effects chains, while maintaining a clear sound and usable dynamics, from clean to the densest overdrive.
Who This Amp Is For
With its power and headroom, the Super Leeds 300 targets guitarists (and hybrid guitar/bass setups depending on cabinet and settings) who want a solid, muscular, and very stable sound. It is especially suitable for musicians playing in loud rehearsals, on large stages, or those seeking a clean tone in the studio that doesn't collapse under aggressive playing.
In terms of styles, it excels where precision and impact matter: modern rock, punk, stoner, metal, hard rock, as well as more "pedal platform" genres (indie, ambient, post-rock) thanks to its effects loop and spring reverb. Beginners can use it, but it is mainly aimed at those who already have a clear idea of their sound and their volume and dynamic needs.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Hiwatt Super Leeds 300 suitable for low tunings and heavy picking?
With 300 W and toroidal transformers, this head is designed to maintain tight lows at high volume. Its significant headroom limits clean compression during sustained attack. It targets loud repeats and large stages.
What controls are available on the overdrive channel?
The Overdrive channel features Gain 1, Gain 2, Contour, and a Gain Flavor Toggle. A dedicated 3-band EQ with Treble, Middle, and Bass allows independent tonal shaping from the Clean channel.
Can effects be connected in the loop?
The effects loop on jack includes Send and Return volume controls on the rear panel, to adjust the level of delays, reverbs, or multi-effects.
What speaker and studio outputs does this 300 W head offer?
There are two parallel speaker outputs in 6.35 mm jack format, rated at 4 Ω. A DI output on a 6.35 mm jack is also included. The head also features a headphone output and an auxiliary input on mini-jack.
Are the footswitch and reverb included with this amp?
A spring reverb with Reverb Volume is integrated. A footswitch connection is provided for Clean/Overdrive selection, but no pedalboard is included.
