A Hohner "Progressive" Reference Designed for Modern Techniques

Alongside the more traditional Richter diatonics, Hohner develops models aimed at specific needs and contemporary playing approaches. The Golden Melody Progressive belongs to the Progressive series, a range associated with harmonica players known for their technical demands and versatility. Its identity: to retain the warmth and tone that made the Golden Melody successful, while modernizing the design to gain stability, airtightness, and comfort.

For Which Musician and Styles?

This diatonic harmonica is especially suited for intermediate to advanced musicians seeking a responsive, stable, and precise instrument. Thanks to its tempered tuning, it excels on single-note melodies and adapts well to various styles: pop, variety, rock, jazz (melodic approach), and blues for those wanting a diatonic capable of expressive bends while maintaining coherent intonation.

Sound and Design

The Golden Melody Progressive aims for a balance between warmth and projection. Optimizing airtightness improves ease of play and response, helping to chain clear attacks, dynamics, and faster phrasing with less effort. Its precisely machined brass reeds contribute to steady vibration and good uniformity. Ergonomically, the red plastic comb (body) features a polished Ultraglide mouthpiece and rounded edges : a real plus for comfort during long sessions. The ergonomically shaped stainless steel covers provide a stable feel in hand while contributing to volume and sound presence.

Diatonic or Chromatic

A diatonic harmonica is designed around a key and naturally facilitates chords when blowing and drawing. It also allows certain bends to achieve intermediate notes and that typical expressiveness, especially in blues. Conversely, a chromatic offers access to all notes via a dedicated system, often chosen for jazz and classical. The model presented here is indeed diatonic, with a tuning focused on melodic precision.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To protect your harmonica daily and prevent dust or shocks, the instrument comes with a robust printed cardboard case of high quality.
