The AU series stands out with an uncommon lutherie approach: instead of the classic assembly of top/sides/back, the body starts from a hollowed solid wood block where the back and sides form a single piece. A top is then added to complete the soundbox. The result: precise attack, a "lively" feel under the fingers, and excellent stability, enhanced by carefully crafted ergonomic details and a stereo sound port system that improves sound perception for the player.

With its AU tenor format and 6-string tuning (1A, 2E, 3C, 4G, 5D, 6A), the AUP10N-OPN is aimed at motivated beginners to intermediate players seeking an inspiring instrument that is easy to handle and fuller than a 4-string ukulele. It excels in acoustic pop, folk, vocal accompaniment, light fingerpicking, and modern arrangements, while remaining an excellent travel companion thanks to its compact size.

Sound Characteristics

The combination of a top specified as spruce and a chambered solid Paulownia body promotes a quick response, clear projection, and a very clear mid-high register, ideal for highlighting attacks and arpeggios. The chambering (hollowed body) adds airiness to the sound and an enhanced resonance feel, while the stereo sound port improves onstage monitoring for the player, useful for solo playing and rehearsals. The 6 strings add density and a natural "chorus" effect on certain voicings, enriching accompaniment without complicating playability.

To maintain the original feel and tension, prefer a replacement set of Ibanez ICLS6NT strings (reference indicated on the spec sheet). The included gig bag already provides suitable protection for transport.
