The AZ Series: Ibanez DNA Between Modern Innovation and "Player-First" Playability
The Ibanez AZ series has established itself as a platform designed to cover a very wide spectrum: warm blues phrasing, defined pop/funk rhythms, and high-intensity metal riffs. The AZ24S2 fully fits this logic with a well-balanced asymmetrical body, a comfortable neck profile, and a performance-oriented design that emphasizes consistency, precision, and ergonomics, both in the studio and live.
Who Is the Ibanez AZ24S2 For? Stage, Studio, and Modern Technique
The AZ24S2 is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want an electric guitar capable of doing it all without struggling with the instrument. Its comfort and 24 frets make it very suitable for modern lead, shred, contemporary rock/metal, but also for styles requiring definition and nuances (fusion, pop, funk). Thanks to the dyna-MIX10, it is also suitable for those who need to switch quickly between different tones within the same set.
Sound Character: Alder + Modern Custom Humbuckers, Power and Definition
The alder body provides a balanced response, with clear highs, present mids, and well-controlled lows: an ideal base for clear modern tones, even with gain. The Ibanez Modern Custom (humbuckers with Alnico V magnets) deliver a powerful and responsive signal, particularly effective with overdrive and distortion: sharp attacks, firm palm mutes, and harmonics that are easy to bring out. The electronics with 5-way selector switch and dyna-MIX10 greatly expand the palette: you can go from a dense humbucker tone to finer single-coil-like textures (Power Tap) while retaining body and a "realistic" feel under the fingers. In terms of feel, the jumbo stainless steel frets enhance precision (bends, vibratos, legato), and the jatoba fingerboard adds a rich midrange with nice definition in the upper spectrum.
