AZ Premium Series: The "Super S" Revisited for Today's Guitarists

The AZ series embodies Ibanez's modern vision for a guitar designed for versatility: refined ergonomics, immediate comfort, and electronics designed to cover a wide range of tones. The Ibanez AZ26P1 Premium sits at the heart of this philosophy with a balanced selection of tonewoods, reference hardware, and a Super All Access neck joint that promotes smooth playing, whether standing or seated. It's an electric guitar built to meet today's demands, from intense rehearsals to recording sessions.

For Which Guitarist and Styles?

This Ibanez is particularly aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a single guitar capable of handling multiple genres without compromise. Thanks to the S-S-H pickup set and dyna-MIX9, it adapts equally well to crisp clean tones (pop, funk, blues), punchy crunch (rock), and tighter distortions (fusion, modern metal). Ideal if you alternate between rhythm and lead playing and need quick texture changes directly on the instrument.

The Sound

The American basswood body provides a balanced and even foundation, with a clear response that handles pedals and effects processing very well. The Seymour Duncan Hyperion pickups (Alnico 5) are designed to maintain attack, definition, and clarity, even under heavy saturation: the single coils deliver clean highs and tight mids, perfect for dynamic and articulate rhythms, while the bridge humbucker adds density and sustain for solos. The dyna-MIX9 electronics expand the palette through splits and internal combinations, offering very useful intermediate nuances for live performance. The ebony fingerboard enhances the sensation of quick response and precision, and the Gotoh T1502 vibrato combines responsive feel with tuning stability.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To stay in line with the instrument's spirit and its 25.5" / 648 mm scale length, a nickel electric string set in 10-46 gauge is an excellent standard. A reliable 6.35 mm jack cable will help preserve dynamics and output level, and a microfiber cloth is recommended for regular maintenance of the finish and ebony fingerboard. The guitar comes with a gig bag, vibrato arm, and multifunction tool.
