Prestige RG: The Metal Icon, Refined Over Decades

The Ibanez RG series has built its reputation on metal and rock stages for over thirty years. The RG653DX sits at the top of this lineage within the Prestige range, where high-tech manufacturing methods meet Japanese craftsmanship. The result: a stage-ready guitar designed for precision, endurance, and inspiration.

For Whom and Which Styles?

Designed for intermediate to expert guitarists seeking speed, comfort, and accuracy, the RG653DX excels in metal, hard rock, and prog. Its versatility also allows it to shine in modern rock and fusion thanks to clear and defined intermediate pickup positions.

The Sound

The pair of DiMarzio humbuckers offers a wide spectrum: the Air Norton at the neck, warm and precise for fluid leads and articulate cleans; the The Tone Zone at the bridge, high output, dense mids, and full lows for massive riffs. The 5-position selector multiplies combinations (full coil and more "single-coil" sounds), while the simple and effective electronics (volume/tone) preserve playing dynamics. The ash body provides brightness and definition, complemented by the Edge double-locking tremolo which ensures perfect tuning return and generous sustain.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To get the best out of your RG653DX, choose 6-string electric guitar string sets in nickel steel with gauges 9-42 or 10-46 (compatible with the 25.5" scale length). A standard guitar strap and a quality 6.35 mm jack cable will ideally complete your setup. A hard case is included for transport and protection.
