Iron Label: Dark Aesthetics and "Made-for-Metal" Efficiency
With the Iron Label series, Ibanez focuses on the essentials: fast playability, electronics tailored for high gain, and a more radical visual identity. The RGIB21 follows this philosophy by adopting the ergonomics of the RG platform, here optimized for low tunings thanks to its baritone design, without any superfluous features, featuring black hardware and a resolutely extreme music-oriented approach.
Who Is It For? Low Tunings, Modern Metal, and Ultra-Tight Rhythms
The Ibanez RGIB21 is clearly aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who play in low tunings and seek a fast response, especially in modern metal, death metal, djent, metalcore, and precise riffing. Its long scale length and active pickups favor tight palm mutes, surgical rhythms, and leads that remain clear in a dense mix, while maintaining a stable playing feel across the entire neck.
The Sound
The tonal foundation is based on the balance between the nyatoh body and the EMG 60 / EMG 81 configuration. Nyatoh provides a solid low-end response and a nice midrange consistency, ideal for high gain. The EMG 81 at the bridge stands out with its sharp attack, incisive highs, and precision in saturation, perfect for fast riffs and harmonics. At the neck, the EMG 60 offers a rounder, creamier register, highly appreciated for singing leads and denser cleans. The jatoba fingerboard adds firmness to the attack, while the Gibraltar Standard II bridge contributes to sustain and stability, particularly useful on a baritone.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To maintain the original behavior in low tuning, the RGIB21 comes equipped with D'Addario EXL157 strings in gauges .014 / .018 / .026 / .044 / .056 / .068, suited for the 28" / 712 mm scale length and factory setup. A hex key is included for common adjustments.
