Ibanez Bass Workshop: the spirit of exploration serving bassists
For over 40 years, Ibanez has been evolving the electric bass by breaking new ground. The Bass Workshop series brings together instruments designed as true innovation platforms: ergonomics, new architectures (such as multi-scale), and contemporary electronics. The SRMS720-BCM fully embodies this approach, with a design made to meet specific playing, clarity, and sonic versatility needs.
Who is this multiscale bass for?
Thanks to its slim neck and multi-scale ergonomics, this bass is very suitable for intermediate musicians looking to step up their precision while remaining immediately comfortable. It will also appeal to experienced bassists seeking a modern and responsive instrument, suited for current rock, metal, funk, pop, gospel, or studio contexts where clarity and attack are essential.
The sound
The okoumé body provides a balanced response, with present lows and great responsiveness in the midrange, ideal for cutting through the mix. The 5-piece maple/walnut neck adds stability and a clear attack, while the Panga Panga fingerboard enhances precision, particularly useful for fast runs and pick playing.
The electronics are clearly oriented towards "modern versatility": the Fishman Fluence pickups deliver a clean and powerful signal, complemented by a 3-band active EQ (Bass, Middle, Treble) for quick sound shaping on stage. The 3-position voice selector switch allows changing the tonal character, and the Single Coil mode (push/pull) adds sharper and more articulated colors when you want more grain and definition.
Recommended compatible accessories
For transport and protection, the recommended references are: MRB500C case and IBB540-BK gig bag. Regarding strings, the original gauge is .045/.065/.080/.100 in D'Addario EXL170SL. This bass requires a 9 V battery (1 piece) for the active electronics.
