Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

The cajon has established itself as an essential percussion instrument to accompany guitar, vocals, or hybrid sets, providing both the roundness of the "bass drum" and the snap of the "snare drum." The Medina White lacquered is positioned as a model focused on versatility and tuning, featuring a Russian birch design and an adjustable snare system designed to quickly adapt to playing style and technique.

Who This Drum/Cajon Is For

This cajon is aimed at demanding beginners as well as intermediate musicians seeking a reliable instrument ready for rehearsals and stage use. It is particularly suitable for acoustic contexts (pop, variety, folk) and more percussive colors (flamenco, fusion) thanks to its clear response and the ability to adjust the snare presence according to playing intensity.

Features and Innovations

The highlight of this model is its D.T.S. (Direct Tuning System) : 4 parallel guitar strings, vertically positioned, which can be tuned from the outside. This approach facilitates snare adjustment (drier, brighter, more present) without opening the instrument. The construction emphasizes stability with a 7-ply Russian birch frame (10 mm) assembled with water-based glue, and silicone spikes that contribute to durability, isolation, and user comfort.

Sound Characteristics

Birch is prized for its balance between clear attack, projection, and definition. Here, the 100 percent Russian birch top at 3 mm thickness promotes a sensitive response: ghost notes stand out, accents snap, and low hits maintain good clarity.

The 7-ply (10 mm) frame provides rigidity and thus a more stable bass feel, with a tighter low end and consistent projection in live situations. The 4 strings act as a snare: one can seek a more "snare drum" grain (tighter snare, increased presence) or a rounder, woodier sound (looser snare) depending on style and dynamics.
