A Wes Borland Signature: The King V DNA at the Heart of the Jackson Pro Series

With this Pro Series Signature, Jackson revisits one of its most iconic shapes, the King V, and pushes it in a decidedly "performance" direction. The gloss Black With White Bevels finish features a radical contrast, equally striking on stage and in the studio, while the luthiery prioritizes efficiency: a single bridge pickup, a single volume control, and hardware designed to withstand aggressive playing. Designed around the universe of Wes Borland, this KV goes straight to the point: an aggressive, precise, and stable instrument, crafted for heavy chords, syncopated attacks, and straightforward lead passages.

For Which Guitarists? Playability, Feel, and Suitable Genres

The Pro Series Signature Wes Borland King V is aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists seeking a reliable stage electric guitar with immediate response and speed-oriented ergonomics. Its minimalist configuration (one humbucker, one volume) will appeal to those who want to focus on playing and tone without juggling multiple pickup combinations.
In terms of styles, it excels in nu-metal, modern metal, hard rock, industrial, and all aesthetics demanding dense saturation, solid lows, and clear attack. The compound radius (12" to 16") helps maintain comfort on chords while facilitating bends and fast playing higher up the neck. The Luminlay side markers provide a real advantage for dark stages and quick position shifts.

Sound and Response: A "Weapon Guitar" with Massive and Clear Grain

The core of the tonal character comes from the Seymour Duncan Invader SH8 bridge pickup. This ceramic humbucker with very high output is designed to push the amp (or pedals) with immediate energy: you get imposing lows, a pleasant natural compression in high gain, and a pronounced presence that helps the guitar stay upfront in the mix. Palm mutes come through with authority, harmonics ring out easily, and the attack maintains true clarity, particularly useful for fast rhythms.
The choice of a single pickup reinforces the "one sound, one intention" approach: fewer distractions, more impact. Paired with the simple volume control, it encourages direct playing dynamics (cleaning up with the pot, picking attack variations) while maintaining a consistent sonic identity.
The neck-through-body construction in maple promotes long sustain and even response along the entire neck: the note "holds," vibrations flow, and the feel under the fingers is very smooth. The graphite reinforcements add stability, a valuable asset if you play hard, use a lot of vibrato, or alternate between rehearsals and gigs under varying conditions. The ebony fretboard enhances attack and precision, with a fast feel and good definition even under heavy saturation.
Finally, the Floyd Rose 1500 Series Double-Locking Tremolo (recessed) is the natural ally of this King V: deep dives, wide vibratos, and extreme effects remain controlled thanks to the double locking system (at the nut and bridge), provided the setup is well maintained and string gauge is consistent. This configuration is designed for the stage: reliable, stable, and highly expressive.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

The guitar comes with a Jackson Gig Bag. To maintain the same tension balance with the Floyd Rose 1500, plan for a replacement set of nickel plated steel strings gauge .009-.042.
