Two JHS Signatures Combined in a Next-Generation Pedal
The Wanderer brings together two of JHS's most acclaimed overdrive approaches. On the right, the Morning Glory v4 delivers a response inspired by Marshall Bluesbreaker amps: an open, dynamic and low-coloration overdrive designed to preserve the natural character of the guitar and amp. It is a circuit that has become a reference for guitarists seeking the tone of a tube amp pushed to the edge of breakup.
On the left, the NOTAKLÖN follows in the tradition of Klon-style overdrives, combining clean boost, midrange definition and articulate saturation. Its Shamrock mode recreates a historic modification conceived by JHS: more gain, stronger mids and more pronounced clipping. The Wanderer therefore does more than simply combine two pedals: it transforms these two voices into a truly flexible gain section.
A Drive Pedal for Live Performance, the Studio and Advanced Pedalboards
The JHS Wanderer is equally suited to demanding guitarists looking to streamline their pedalboard and stage musicians using a programmable switcher. Its two circuits cover a broad range, from expressive clean boost to rich crunch and denser saturation for lead parts. It will naturally find its place in blues, classic rock, indie, pop, worship, alternative and styles where playing dynamics matter just as much as the amount of saturation.
Used in front of an amp set clean or with a slight crunch, the Morning Glory can remain engaged at all times to enrich the core tone. The NOTAKLÖN can then serve as a boost, a rhythm drive or a solo channel. Guitarists who enjoy stacking overdrives will appreciate the ability to change the order of the circuits, or even insert a fuzz, compressor or any other effect between the two sections.
Four Gain Voices and uncompromising Routing
Each circuit has its own level, gain and EQ controls. The NOTAKLÖN section features Volume, Gain and Treble controls. With the gain set to minimum, it can deliver up to +16 dB of clean boost, depending on the volume setting. Its Shamrock switch adds +4 dB of gain, enhances the mids and activates an additional hard-clipping stage for a denser, more cutting sound.
The Morning Glory v4 features Volume, Drive and Tone controls. Its Gain switch adds a complete gain stage, with increased saturation, a slight volume boost and a fuller response. A red LED indicates when this mode is active. The Bright Cut switch, located on the right side, allows you to tame the highs of a naturally bright guitar or amp.
The central Order switch determines which circuit comes first in the chain when the Wanderer is used as a two-in-one pedal. Morning Glory before NOTAKLÖN to preserve openness and then push the signal, or the reverse order for a tighter, more aggressive texture: both approaches offer distinct playing experiences.
The four audio connections also allow the two overdrives to operate completely independently. Each side can then be placed in a separate loop of a switcher, saved in presets or separated by other effects. The two Red Remote inputs allow the gain modes to be controlled remotely with a Red Remote or a latching amp-style footswitch. A switcher with amp control outputs can also recall both modes from a single preset.
The Sound
The Wanderer combines two highly complementary personalities. The Morning Glory delivers a transparent, lively and responsive tone, with defined highs, preserved lows and excellent sensitivity to pick attack. It lets both single-coils and humbuckers breathe, while creating the sensation of an amp beginning to work harder.
The NOTAKLÖN adds body, presence and measured compression without sacrificing chord clarity. In standard mode, it excels at pushing an already warm amp or bringing a guitar forward in a mix. The Shamrock mode tightens the response, enriches the mids and adds more sustain for solos. The Morning Glory family is particularly appreciated by guitarists such as Mary Spender, King Krule and Drew Nix for its organic character and its ability to remain faithful to the player's touch.
