Within this philosophy, the HR* series embodies a decidedly traditional vision of the jazz ebonite mouthpiece, designed to combine musicality, breath comfort, and projection capability.

This Jody Jazz HR* mouthpiece for baritone saxophone is aimed at intermediate to professional saxophonists seeking a versatile mouthpiece, capable of delivering a "straight-ahead" aesthetic as well as holding its own in amplified or more energetic settings. It is particularly suitable for Big Band repertoire and modern styles requiring responsiveness: Rock, Funk, Blues, Reggae, and Hip Hop, while remaining relevant for traditional jazz playing when timbre and articulation are prioritized.

Sound and design

Made of ebonite, the HR* aims for a naturally warm timbre rich in harmonics, with an "organic" playing feel appreciated on the baritone. Its medium-sized round chamber promotes a good balance between roundness, stability, and projection, helping to maintain a strong presence without excessively hardening the sound. With a 2.54 mm tip opening, the mouthpiece offers a clear response and smooth airflow, facilitating ease of emission and continuity across registers, whether playing in section or as a soloist.

As this mouthpiece is delivered without ligature or mouthpiece cap, you will need to provide a ligature and mouthpiece cap compatible with baritone saxophone and suited to the mouthpiece size. If you already have a baritone ligature, simply check that its tightening and adjustment range fit your setup before use.
