A SELMER Reference: Tradition and Manufacturing Precision
Since 1885, Henri SELMER Paris has established itself as a key name in the world of reeds and mouthpieces, with a reputation built on rigor and consistency. Modern production relies on CNC machining centers in the Mantes-la-Ville workshops to achieve remarkable precision and stability in manufacturing. The result: consistent, reliable mouthpieces and a complete range designed to offer different sound aesthetics, as the choice of a mouthpiece remains deeply personal.
For Whom and in Which Styles?
The SELME R S90 meets the needs of both students and the expectations of advanced and professional musicians seeking a versatile mouthpiece. Its design makes it an excellent choice for classical music (control, homogeneity, intonation), but it is also relevant in wind orchestra, pop, or contexts where easy projection and immediate response are desired.
Sound and Design
The S90 mouthpiece is often described as efficient and very homogeneous, with a direct projection that secures attack and sound sustain. Its square chamber contributes to a sense of stability and a well-grounded timbre, while maintaining appreciable flexibility for phrasing. The table (reed resting surface) and the tip opening (gap at the mouthpiece tip) largely determine ease of play: here, the balance favors quick handling and good control across registers, with altissimo notes noted as particularly successful.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
This mouthpiece comes with a mouthpiece patch. The ligature and mouthpiece cap are not included: be sure to choose a ligature and cap specifically compatible with the shape and dimensions of a saxophone mouthpiece (compatibility varies by model and brand).
