Jodyjazz HR* 7 - BARITONE

The HR* Series: Jody Jazz's Vision of the "Traditional" Jazz Mouthpiece

Designed by Jody Espina, Jody Jazz mouthpieces are developed to meet the expectations of demanding musicians, from advanced students to professionals. The HR* series embraces a deliberate pursuit of tradition: recapturing the feel and sound of classic ebonite mouthpieces while benefiting from rigorous quality control and meticulous craftsmanship. Individually manufactured and hand-finished, the HR* aims for a rare balance between warmth, flexibility, and the ability to project when the musical context requires it.

For Which Baritone Saxophonist?

This Jody Jazz HR* mouthpiece for baritone saxophone is intended for advanced students, intermediate players looking to advance, as well as professionals seeking a versatile and reliable mouthpiece. It excels particularly in styles that demand both body and impact: Big Band and modern styles, as well as a playing palette suited to Rock, Funk, Blues, Reggae, and Hip Hop, with the necessary power reserve to hold the rhythm section.

Sound and Design

Made of ebonite, the HR* emphasizes a warm and "organic" sound, highly sought after on baritone saxophone to maintain roundness without losing presence. Its 2.79 mm tip opening promotes a lively and expressive playing feel, while the medium-sized round chamber contributes to solid projection, good intonation stability, and a consistent response across all registers. The result: a mouthpiece that starts easily, supports dynamics, and maintains true authority when it's time to "cut through" in an ensemble.
