The HR* Series: Jody Jazz DNA Between Tradition and Innovation

Designed by Jody Espina, the HR* series embodies the Jody Jazz philosophy: offering high-end saxophone mouthpieces, individually handcrafted in Savannah (USA). Conceived as a "classic" ebonite mouthpiece for jazz, the HR* aims for three goals: a traditional tonal aesthetic, very smooth blowing, and the ability to project with authority when needed.

Sound and Design

Thanks to ebonite, the HR* favors a dense and warm timbre, with comfortable response and good homogeneity across registers. Its 2.11 mm tip opening promotes a balance between ease of play, control, and expressivity, allowing for a soft, mellow sound to a more assertive projection without excessive harshness. The hand finish contributes to the sensation of precision and consistency in playing.
