A Modern Fuzz Built on the "Muff" Legacy

The Chief Disruptor clearly belongs to the great lineage of "big and muffy" saturations that have shaped decades of recordings, but with a decidedly modern philosophy: more control, more precision, and an outrageously high volume reserve. KMA Machines pushes the concept far beyond classic fuzz, thanks to a stacked topology and a sound-shaping section designed to suit both guitar and bass.

Who It's For: From Rock to Metal, Massive Riffs to Cutting Leads

This pedal is aimed at musicians who love thick saturations but refuse to sacrifice clarity in the mix. It excels in doom, stoner, grunge, shoegaze, alternative, post-punk, and metal contexts, with a big live advantage: the footswitchable mid EQ lets you instantly switch from a very wide "scooped" sound to a focused tone that cuts through the band. Usage reports place it frequently in rock and metal, but also in post-punk, blues, and indie rock.

A Toolbox: Footswitchable Mid EQ, Pre/Post Clean Blend, Top-Boost, and Expression

At the heart of the Chief Disruptor is a "performance" approach: a main footswitch to engage the effect and a second to activate the mid section. The gain modes (Vintage, Tight, Heavy) change the structure and feel under the fingers, while the blend position selector (pre or post EQ) helps lock in the low end depending on your amp, cab, or tuning. Add the Top-Boost to bring bite to the harmonics, and connect an expression pedal to control the mid frequency: perfect for filter sweeps, "talking" leads, and moving textures.

The Sound

The Chief Disruptor delivers a wide, dense, and very compressed saturation if desired, but it can also become surprisingly dynamic in Vintage mode, with a more "subtle overdrive" response when lowering the gain. The Tight mode tightens the low end and highlights clear harmonics for modern, precise riffs. The Heavy mode is the classic revisited: massive sustain, bass that pushes air, and smooth mids, with enough EQ to effortlessly fit into any mix. In terms of inspirations and contexts, this pedal appears in rigs of artists such as Jack Simmons, Issac Hale, and Joey Santiago.
