About this score
“Ibert Jacques - Concerto Pour Flute” is offered here in a reduction for flute and piano. This format combines the flute part with piano accompaniment. It therefore provides a framework for two musicians to discover the work, develop their reading skills and gradually build a shared interpretation.
For the flutist, rehearsing with the piano helps place their part in a more complete musical context than individual practice alone. Entrances, breaths and phrase endings can be addressed with a partner, taking the time to listen to how the two parts interact.
Working as a duo also makes it possible to focus on specific passages before reintegrating them into a longer sequence. Depending on the performers’ needs, sessions can prioritize tempo stability, attack precision or continuity of the musical line, without losing sight of the concerto as a whole.
This score is therefore intended for musicians specifically looking for Jacques Ibert’s concerto for flute with piano accompaniment. Choosing this reduction corresponds to performance with a pianist: this is the instrumentation announced for this edition, rather than orchestral material.
