Summary of This Score
This score for a brass ensemble (5 parts) by Thomas Morley is designed to offer comfortable reading and a homogeneous sound while remaining flexible in group composition. The lineup includes 2 trumpets (in C or Bb), 1 horn (or trombone depending on your instrument pool), 1 trombone, and 1 tuba (in C or Bb), allowing easy formation of a brass quintet in various contexts: music schools, conservatories, amateur ensembles, or occasional projects within a wind band.
The addition of a tambourine ad lib adds an extra rhythmic color, useful for energizing the performance and supporting collective articulation, without imposing constraints if no percussionist is available. The separate parts facilitate sectional rehearsals and preparation: each player has their own line for precise coordination of attacks, balances, and dynamics. An effective solution to enrich your brass score repertoire and work on ensemble cohesion, intonation, and common breathing.
