Summary of This Method

This method is based on relative solmization, a practice widely used in music education in England to support amateurs and beginners in learning music. The principle is simple and effective: associating syllables (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, si) with the scale to help the student sing, hear, and memorize pitches. By developing the ear from the start, reading becomes more natural and musical writing more understandable.

Designed to introduce the youngest learners, this method is organized into two volumes whose mission is to make learning accessible, clear, and stimulating. The student progresses step by step, with a structured progression: starting with approachable concepts, then moving towards more elaborate elements as confidence and skills develop. The goal is not only to recognize notes but to understand the structure of a melody and acquire good musical habits.

In the spirit of Kodály pedagogy, choral singing holds an important place: working in groups helps to refine listening, strengthen rhythmic precision, and gain musicality. The repertoire and exercises follow an approach where learning must remain enjoyable, in accordance with the guiding idea attributed to Kodály: music education should encourage, motivate, and inspire progress.
