"Mic sound" without a mic: the Voiceprint philosophy at L.R. Baggs

With the Voiceprint DI, L.R. Baggs pushes acoustic amplification towards a more "studio" approach: instead of just equalizing a piezo sensor, the pedal aims to reconstruct the sonic signature of your instrument. The principle is simple and highly effective: you capture your guitar's imprint via the app, then the pedal applies this profile to achieve a more organic, open result, closer to a microphone recording, while remaining usable on a pedalboard.

Who is it for, and what for? A modern DI for acoustic live and studio use

The L.R. Baggs Voiceprint DI is aimed at acoustic guitarists who want a console-ready sound without struggling with stage resonances. It suits both intermediate musicians and professionals: the ergonomics remain straightforward (volume, Voice mix, anti-feedback), while the app allows for deep customization (preset library, finer adjustments).
It excels in folk, pop, country, fingerstyle, worship, and more broadly whenever a detailed and stable acoustic front-of-house sound is sought. In the studio, it can also serve as a quick and coherent chain to record an acoustic guitar equipped with an internal mic/sensor, maintaining a credible and controlled texture.

Controls, presets, connectivity: a complete DI at the heart of the pedalboard

On the pedal, you'll find controls designed for stress-free playing: Volume (overall level), Voice (blend between Voiceprint and untreated signal, with Bluetooth pairing access), and Anti-FB (anti-feedback treatment level, with phase inversion via short press). A selector lets you navigate through up to 99 preset slots, and a Next footswitch quickly scrolls through your sounds, skipping empty slots.
For the stage, the input section includes a multi-position Pad to adjust your sensor's level, limit saturation risk, and keep dynamics clean. On the integration side, the Voiceprint DI offers a balanced XLR output for the console, an unbalanced 6.35mm Jack output for an amp/monitor, an effects loop (Send/Return) to place modulation/delay/reverb after processing, a ground lift to reduce hum, and a Micro USB port intended for possible firmware updates.

Sound character

The Voiceprint DI's signature is an acoustic sound that regains depth and breathability: less harshness in the upper midrange typical of piezos, more body in the low mids, and a more credible attack on chords and fingerpicking. The response remains very touch-sensitive: right-hand nuances, pick variations, and playing dynamics are better translated, giving a more "instrument" feel and less "sensor" feel.
The Anti-FB control helps secure the sound on challenging stages without having to sacrifice all the bass or trap the acoustic in a radical EQ. By finely adjusting the "Voice" mix, you can go from subtle correction (to keep your original character) to a more marked transformation, ideal for achieving a more "mic-like" acoustic sound front-of-house.
