Essential Information About the Mahalo Pearl Tenor Electro-Acoustic Ukulele

  • Solid Sitka Spruce Top: precise attack, beautiful definition, and dynamic response.

  • Mahogany Back and Sides: warmth, roundness, and natural sustain, ideal for a tenor.

  • Built-in Mahalo MEQ2 Electronics with integrated tuner: convenient for amplified playing and quick tuning.

  • Premium Finishes (Amara ebony fingerboard/bridge, NuBone XB nuts, mother-of-pearl inlays): comfort and refined aesthetics in an accessible range.

The Pearl Series: Mahalo's "High-End" Spirit

With the Pearl series, Mahalo bets on an effective formula: a solid top to gain projection and nuance, combined with tonewoods known for their musicality. The result is a ukulele with a distinctive look (inlays and decorative veneers) and a strong sonic personality, designed to offer a more "luthier" feel than what is usually expected at this price level.

Who Is It For, and In Which Styles?

This model is aimed at demanding beginners as well as intermediate musicians who want a comfortable, expressive tenor ukulele ready for the stage. The tenor format provides a spacious feel and an ideal presence for pop/folk strumming, vocal accompaniment, but also more nuanced fingerstyle playing. Thanks to the preamp with tuner, it is particularly suitable for rehearsals and amplified performances.

Sound

The solid Sitka spruce top delivers a clear and articulated attack, with a quick response to right-hand variations: it is easy to achieve dynamics, from soft playing to more pronounced attacks. The mahogany back and sides complement this clarity with natural warmth and pleasant sustain, adding roundness that highlights open chords as well as melodies. The Amara ebony fingerboard and bridge promote a precise feel under the fingers, while the Graph Tech NuBone XB nuts contribute to balanced resonance and good tuning stability. Plugged in, the Mahalo MEQ2 preamp allows quick adjustment of the output to your amp or PA, while retaining the essentials: a warm, defined tenor sound that is usable live.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, favor a tenor ukulele string set, for example Aquila Super Nylgut (the same reference as the factory-installed strings). A tenor-sized gig bag is ideal for daily transport (a gig bag is included).
