From the iconic 90s Elop to the Elop+: an evolution designed for contemporary productions

Having become a studio classic since the 1990s, the Manley Elop established itself as a reference stereo optical limiter to add density, stabilize dynamics, and "glue" a mix without crushing it. With the Elop+, Manley goes beyond a cosmetic update: the unit is fully modernized around a new tube amplification circuit, a new cathode output stage "White Follower", and a switchable power supply specifically designed for the demands and stability of tube circuits.
This new version retains the spirit of the original model (optical response, musicality, "glue" sensation) while adding a 3:1 compression option that clearly broadens its range of use: less "limiter-only," more versatile for mix bus, stems, and tracking.

A tube dynamic processor for mix bus, mastering, and high-end tracking

The Manley Elop+ targets sound engineers, producers, and studios seeking a stereo dynamic processor capable of being both subtle and decisive. On a main bus, it excels at solidifying the image, controlling peaks, and providing a sense of cohesion without losing musicality. In mastering (or pre-mastering), it becomes a finishing tool to smooth dynamics and stabilize a track's energy while maintaining an organic sound.
During tracking, the optical behavior is particularly appreciated on sources that benefit from remaining natural: vocals, bass, guitars, keyboards, overheads, or room mics. The goal is not to "over-process," but to achieve elegant control with a smooth response and an embraced analog texture.

New full tube audio path and "White Follower" output stage

The Elop+ adopts a new tube amplification circuit based on 5751 and 6922 triodes, and a cathode output stage "White Follower". This architecture aims for a stronger low-end reproduction, better transient control, and an increased sense of depth, while preserving the smooth character typical of a high-end optical limiter.

Two ratios for two philosophies: 10:1 limiting and 3:1 compression

In 10:1 limiter mode, the Elop+ acts as a musical safeguard: ideal for containing peaks and gaining perceived density without making the signal harsh. The new 3:1 ratio in compressor mode opens the door to a more gradual approach, perfect for "setting" a source, smoothing a group bus, or bringing coherence to a mix without pumping sensation.

Side-chain, stereo, and studio ergonomics

The side-chain high-pass filter limits the influence of low frequencies on detection, keeping the bass stable and preventing a kick or bass from triggering excessive gain reduction. The Stereo Link ensures stereo image coherence by linking the behavior of both channels, an essential feature on the mix bus and stereo sources.
The BYPASS and Automute with warm-up time functions integrate naturally into a professional workflow: controlled startup, monitoring protection, and quick A/B comparisons. The bright VU meters provide clear readings of gain reduction and output levels for precise treatment adjustment.

The balanced XLR inputs are equipped with matched Manley IRON transformers, designed to preserve dynamics, manage level with authority, and provide a consistent analog signature.
