A Madrid Signature Designed for the Stage
Part of the "Superior" series, this electro-classical guitar condenses the expertise of the Manuel Rodriguez workshop, active in Madrid since 1905. It combines the tradition of Spanish construction (Spanish heel) with contemporary choices-thin body, cutaway, onboard electronics-to meet the current demands of performing musicians.
For Whom and Which Styles?
Due to its playability (44 mm nut) and full-size 4/4 flat body format, it is suitable for intermediate to advanced guitarists, as well as musicians coming from folk/electric backgrounds looking to transition to nylon strings. Ideal for pop, bossa, modern flamenco, Latin, chanson, and live accompaniment, it remains versatile enough for fingerstyle playing and arpeggios.
Sound Characteristics
The solid spruce top provides attack, definition, and dynamic reserve, while the curly eucalyptus back/sides add controlled brightness and responsiveness. The thin body slightly reduces acoustic volume in favor of better feedback control on stage. The 12-hole bridge increases the break angle of the strings for improved transmission to the top, supported by bone nuts that ensure sustain and precision. When plugged in, the ARTEC SQ-3 preamp and its under-saddle piezo deliver a clear and balanced signal, faithful to the nylon string timbre.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
- Hannabach 815HTC Silver-Special string set (high tension): factory-installed, perfect replacement to maintain response and projection.
- Soundhole humidifier for 4/4 classical guitar: essential to stabilize the spruce top and preserve the lutherie in all seasons.
- Padded 4/4 classical guitar case: suited to the 4/4 size and thin body, to protect the instrument during transport.
