Historical Context and Positioning in the Range
Born in 1987 to celebrate both the 25th anniversary of Marshall amplifiers and Jim Marshall's journey in the music industry, the original Silver Jubilee (2555) immediately stood out with its silver vinyl covering and chrome control panel, but above all by a unique sonic personality.
Based on the spirit of the JCM800 2203/2204 while integrating a more atypical preamp and then-innovative features, the 2555 quickly became a coveted piece. The 2555X is its faithful modern reissue: same philosophy, same great playing sensations, with a design intended for current use (easier maintenance, compliance, and reliability).
Who This Amp Is For
The Marshall Silver Jubilee 2555X is aimed at the guitarist who wants a characterful tube head capable of covering rock, hard rock, punk, alternative, and more modern styles when pushing the gain. Thanks to its 100W/50W switch, it is credible for rehearsals and stage, while remaining usable in the studio (provided you enjoy working with a real power amp stage).
It is also an excellent choice for musicians already comfortable with the dynamics of a tube amp: pick attack, guitar volume, and right hand become full-fledged "controls." If you are looking for an ultra-neutral platform for pedals, this is not the primary goal here; however, if you want an iconic Marshall sound with a true identity, the Jubilee is in its element.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Marshall 2555X suitable for rock and hard rock?
Its architecture with 4 EL34 tubes and diode clipping circuit produces present mids and dense saturation. The Rhythm and Lead channels cover tight cleans, thick crunch, and high-gain lead sounds.
Is it possible to reduce the power of the Silver Jubilee 2555X head?
The Pentode/Triode switch allows selecting 100 W or 50 W. This selection changes the headroom and the power stage response depending on the speaker cabinet and desired volume level.
Which speakers can be connected to this Marshall head?
The speaker outputs are designed for 8 or 16-ohm cabinets. An external speaker output is provided; the impedance of the connected cabinet must match one of these values.
Is there an effects loop on the 2555X?
A series effects loop is integrated. It allows placing a delay or reverb after the preamp distortion.
Is the footswitch included and what does it control?
The footswitch is included with the head. It switches between the two channels, Rhythm and Lead. The Rhythm channel has an Input Gain with Pull Rhythm Clip function, while levels are balanced via the Lead Master and Output Master controls.
