Essential Information About the Maton Troubadour Jumbo Guitar

  • More Compact Jumbo Format: all the volume and presence of a Jumbo, with a shallower body for significantly greater comfort on stage and in the studio.

  • 100% Solid Wood Luthiery: solid spruce top, solid Queensland maple back and sides for wide projection, precise attack, and excellent dynamic range.

  • Reference Electronics: Maton AP5-PRO system for a natural, faithful, and highly responsive amplified sound.

  • Premium Finish: satin Tobacco Sunburst, gold Grover Rotomatic tuners, veined ebony fingerboard and bridge.

The Troubadour: a "songwriter" approach within the Maton range

The Troubadour series was designed for musicians who live their songs to the fullest: composing, storytelling, accompanying a voice, recording a clean take, then finding the same authenticity once plugged in. Available in several formats (Dreadnought, Traditional, Mini, and Jumbo), it maintains a common identity: a fine balance between projection, comfort, and expressiveness. In this Troubadour Jumbo version, Maton aims for a broad and immediate sonic presence while keeping ergonomics easier to manage than a traditional Jumbo thanks to a shallower body and a more compact size.

An electro-acoustic tailored for stage, studio, and accompaniment

The Maton Troubadour Jumbo is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced guitarists who want a responsive guitar capable of shifting from soft playing to strong rhythm without losing clarity. Its Jumbo format adds body for vocal accompaniment, wide strummings, and "full-spectrum" arrangements, while remaining comfortable to hold during long sessions. It excels in pop, folk, country, acoustic rock, and singer-songwriter styles, and remains very convincing in arpeggios when clarity note by note is sought.

Sound: power, definition, and dynamics, supported by high-end luthiery

The solid spruce top provides attack, projection, and precision: it responds quickly to the pick, stays clear in open chords, and maintains air around the notes in picking. The choice of solid Queensland maple back and sides enhances definition and string separation, with a "clean" response feel much appreciated in studio and on stage, especially when the guitar needs to cut through a mix without becoming overpowering.

The scalloped Maton X bracing helps the top vibrate more freely: gaining in openness, breadth, and dynamics, with better breathing when playing softly while maintaining control when attacked hard. The Jumbo format naturally brings sonic width and body in the low-midrange, but the more compact and shallower design favors a more "controlled" feel: the sound remains present without sacrificing playing comfort or manageability.

Plugged in, the Maton AP5-PRO electronics are designed to respect the acoustic character of the instrument: a natural, balanced, and nuanced output, with a faithful response to right-hand dynamics. The result: a reliable electro-acoustic guitar for transitioning from studio to stage while maintaining a coherent sonic identity.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To preserve the original feel and balance, a replacement set of Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze 12-53 strings is the safest choice (same gauge as factory-installed). The instrument comes with a Maton Standard case, providing suitable protection for transport and storage.
