What is ML4000 Native v7 for?

ML4000 Native v7 is designed to finalize a mix with a louder, more stable, and more "broadcast-ready" sound without sacrificing musicality. It is aimed at mastering (loudness, peak control, spectral coherence), but also meets the needs of post-production and live sound, where dynamic control and clipping protection are essential. Thanks to its multiband section, it allows different treatment of lows, low-mids, high-mids, and highs to maintain a solid low end, clear vocals, and clean high frequencies, even on very dense content.

Main Features

Two complementary plug-ins: ML1 and ML4

The ML1 focuses on the essentials of modern mastering: a high-resolution limiter capable of achieving competitive levels while strictly controlling peaks. The ML4 goes further by adding a multiband dynamics section (Gate, Expander, Compressor) across 4 bands, which is then fed into the same limiter as the ML1. This approach is ideal for taming an overpowering low end, smoothing aggressive midrange areas, or calming an unstable high-frequency spectrum before the final limiting stage.

Brick wall look-ahead limiter with multi-stage detection

The "brick wall" limitation with look-ahead acts as a safety net: it prevents overshoots and helps maintain a clean output even when pushing levels. The multi-stage peak detection and stepwise limiting distribute the workload more effectively, resulting in better transient control and a sense of solidity, particularly useful on modern mixes (pop, rock, hip-hop, electro) or broadcast buses.

Knee and Mode settings: shaping the limiter's character

The Knee and Mode controls allow adjustment of how the limiting engages: softer and more gradual to preserve naturalness, or firmer to maximize impact and density. This is an effective lever to tailor the processing to the musical style, arrangement, and transient types (kick, snare, guitar attacks, vocals).

Multiband dynamics with detailed visualization

In the ML4, each band features a complete set of processors: Gate to clean up the low end or reduce noise, Expander (upward or downward) to add life or control ambience, and Compressor to stabilize energy. The simultaneous display of dynamic curves (Gate, Expander, Compressor) for each band, with multiple visualization modes, facilitates quick and precise adjustments without working "blind."

Adjustable crossovers, analog saturation, and low latency

Adjustable crossover filters help place separation points exactly where the mix needs them, allowing treatment of problematic areas without disturbing the rest. The modeled analog saturation can add a touch of density and cohesion, useful for enhancing perceived loudness. Finally, double precision processing and ultra-low latency ensure comfortable integration in sessions, even in demanding contexts.
