Historical Context and Positioning in the Range

This tambourine is part of Meinl's Artist Series, developed in collaboration with drummer Benny Greb, following the same philosophy as his signature cymbals: a controlled, "dry," and very musical sound both on stage and in the studio.

Who This Tambourine Is For

For intermediate to expert drummers seeking a percussive color that can be quickly triggered by foot: funk, pop, neo-soul, hip-hop, indie, modern jazz. Perfect for enriching choruses, ghost notes on the hi-hat, and 16th-note patterns without excessive brightness.

Features and Innovations

Its round frame attaches to the hi-hat rod and remains stable while maintaining immediate response. The sandblasted jingles provide a shorter attack and a more matte texture than a traditional tambourine.

Sound Characteristics

The sandblasted brass jingles emphasize a softened high-frequency range: less "splashy," tighter, with a dry grain and controlled sustain. The result is a clear "ching" that fits easily into the mix, even with close microphones.
