A Versatile Staple in the UM Range

The UM 930 is established as a reference microphone for professional and semi-professional recording. It carries the DNA of classic large-diaphragm studio condensers while adding Reed relay polar pattern switching and modern recording ergonomics. The "UM 930 Twin" variant further expands its application by offering two capsules usable simultaneously.

Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?

Designed for music studios, broadcast, and post-production, the UM 930 excels on sung and spoken vocals, dialogue, and a wide range of instruments: guitars, keyboards, percussion, winds, and strings. Its side-address design facilitates precise placement, while the integrated suspension and robust body minimize vibrations and handling noise.

Key Features for a Modern Workflow

Polar pattern selection is done via maintenance-free Reed relays, with a function that mutes the signal during switching to avoid any switching noise. A green LED under the grille confirms the "ready" status. The damped mechanical architecture reduces housing resonances and structure-borne transmissions. Colored rings (green, red, blue) can replace the black rings to identify your microphones in the studio.

In the UM 930 Twin version, a fixed cardioid microphone serves as a reference, while a second offers five simultaneous polar patterns, all accessible via a 5-pin XLR connector. This approach allows comparing and adjusting the polar pattern during recording, using a simple 5-pin cable or an adapter to two 3-pin XLR connectors.
